GoAhead Software announces general availability of ready-to-deploy Service Availability Forum AIS implementation
Network equipment providers leverage GoAhead SAFfire to meet schedules and focus on innovation

BELLEVUE, Wash. — January 14, 2008— GoAhead® Software, the worldwide leader in open standards-based high availability and systems management middleware for carrier-grade and mission critical systems, announces general availability of GoAhead SAFfire ™ 2.0. SAFfire features the market’s most comprehensive implementation of the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) Application Interface Specification (AIS). This new product also features sophisticated high availability (HA) and management capabilities found in the company’s flagship product, GoAhead SelfReliant® – proven on more than 25,000 deployments worldwide.

GoAhead Software conducted an eighteen-month early access program for GoAhead SAFfire. A number of leading network equipment providers (NEPs), telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs), and defense contractors participated in this program.

“Participants in the early adopter program put much effort into a thoughtful, thorough evaluation of GoAhead SAFfire, and their invaluable feedback has helped ensure readiness for real-world implementations,” states Dr. Asif Naseem, GoAhead president and chief operating officer. “As a result GoAhead SAFfire 2.0 is the most comprehensive implementation of the SA Forum AIS specification available in the industry,” explains Naseem.

"Many leading NEPs are seeing the cost and time savings in successful deployments of the SA Forum’s Hardware Platform Interface (HPI),” states Ulrich Kleber, technical work group chair for the SA Forum. “These NEPs are now looking for ways to extend that model to ensure not only platform portability, but also application portability and the ability to focus resources on innovation. The SA Forum welcomes the release of GoAhead SAFfire™ 2.0 as further proof of the growing adoption of the SA Forum's AIS specification," says Kleber.

GoAhead Software continues to offer SelfReliant, the industry’s leading commercial-off-the-shelf HA and management solution, in addition to the new SAFfire product.  Both product lines have roadmaps to future versions, and will be supported by GoAhead’s experienced support staff.
