GoAhead Announces 4000th Global Deployment
Market Success Validated by Marquee Customers Including Motorola, BlueSlice, Kineto Wireless, Oki Electric, Samsung, SiRF Technology, Andrew Corporation and Sonim Technologies
CTIA Wireless Conference, New Orleans, LA - March 14, 2005 - GoAhead® Software, the expert in building integrated middleware for highly available systems, today announced it has completed a new deployment with Motorola's Networks business, marking the 4000th implementation of GoAhead SelfReliant® at customers around the globe. Customers achieve faster time to market and lower development costs with GoAhead's SelfReliant technology, a full suite of standard-based, platform-independent high availability middleware that delivers a pre-integrated, carrier-grade application ready platform. With 4000 global deployments and marquee customers, including Motorola, BlueSlice, Kineto Wireless, Oki Electric, Samsung, SiRF Technology, Andrew Corporation and Sonim Technologies, GoAhead celebrates its ten year anniversary and leadership in the market.
"GoAhead Software continues to be an important long-term supplier for Motorola Networks," stated Mark Borota, Senior Vice President of Cellular Networks in Motorola's Networks business. "For the past five years, GoAhead's products and services have helped Motorola build solutions that meet our customers' demanding availability requirements. As an example, the Voice Processing Unit (VPU) that Motorola built recently achieved 100 percent availability during its first year of deployment at a major American carrier."
"A number of market and technology factors are accelerating the need for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) high availability middleware," said Jim Ewel, CEO of GoAhead Software. "The consumer and corporate demand for more sophisticated telecom services, the viability of standards technologies and the emergence of new competitors are leading industry players to view COTS software as an imperative. GoAhead is proud of its leadership position and looks forward to playing its part in the continuing transformation of the telecommunications industry."
Telecom Industry Favors Standards-based Communications:
GoAhead SelfReliant Supports Service Availability Forum (SAF) Interfaces
The telecom industry is moving away from proprietary hardware and software toward COTS technology that provides new services faster and at a lower cost. Standards-based communications products such as Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) and carrier-grade Linux are beginning to reach critical mass, while management and availability standards defined by the Service Availability Forum (SAF) are maturing.
GoAhead leads the market with support for critical standards-based interfaces. GoAhead was the first high availability middleware company to support the SAF Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) A & B specifications. The company continues to evolve its existing GoAhead SelfReliant® suite. In November 2004, GoAhead announced that it is working with SAF to complete support for the newly released Application Interface Specification (AIS) B.01.01. The AIS defines an interface for highly available applications that allows developers to write application software that is portable across different vendors' implementations of high availability middleware. The first version of GoAhead‘s AIS compliant suite, which will also support HPI A & B specifications will be available by the summer of 2005.
"Wind River's strong relationship with GoAhead is built on a common belief in the importance of standards based technologies," remarked John Bruggeman, Chief Marketing Officer, Wind River. "GoAhead's SAF-compliant application ready platform built on Wind River's Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, a carrier-grade Linux solution, enables our common telecommunications customers to achieve five 9's availability without the significant development effort usually associated with technology integration."
GoAhead Demonstrating at CTIA Wireless
GoAhead will demonstrate its SelfReliant suite at the CTIA conference, March 14-16, in the Service Availability Forum booth #861.
