GoAhead Software Announces SelfReliant 5.0 Beta Program
High Availability Market Leader Forges Ahead With Support for Service Availability Forum Application Interface Standard

BELLEVUE, Wash. – March 28, 2006 – GoAhead® Software, the expert in building integrated middleware for highly available systems, today announced GoAhead SelfReliant® 5.0 Beta Program. This program offers qualified customers the opportunity to evaluate SelfReliant 5.0 Beta, GoAhead’s carrier-grade, application ready high availability (HA) software platform, which implements the Service Availability™ Forum (SA Forum) Application Interface Specification (AIS). The SA Forum’s AIS standardizes the interface between Service Availability Forum compliant high availability middleware and service applications. This release of GoAhead SelfReliant will support the latest release of the AIS (B.02.01) included in the Consolidated Release which became available in January of 2006. This release also provides continued support for the current version of the SA Forum Hardware Platform
Interface (HPI B.01.01).

Both the telecommunications industry and the military and aerospace industries continue the shift from proprietary platforms to standards-based, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) building blocks integrated into application ready platforms. This enables equipment manufacturers to focus resources on the application and services layer, as well as reducing costs and speeding time to market. As a result, these equipment manufacturers are standardizing on COTS components, arming them with an advantage over the competition. Lockheed Martin, provider of advanced technology systems, products and services with 2005 sales of $37.2 billion, is among the customers who will be evaluating this Beta.

“While including a significant amount of new functionality, GoAhead SelfReliant 5.0 Beta is built on a code base deployed on more than 10,000 nodes worldwide,” stated Jim Ewel, GoAhead CEO. “This means that customers can take advantage of the AIS functionality while relying on a product that’s been proven time and time again.”

GoAhead partners, RadiSys and Montavista, are also committed to standards-based solutions based on Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) and Carrier-Grade Linux, respectively. With 2005 revenues of $260.2 million, RadiSys is a leading global provider of advanced embedded systems, including its Promentum ATCA series of platform products. "Our customers are looking for comprehensive solutions which will help them lower their costs and deliver solutions to market more quickly," said Todd Etchieson, senior director of ATCA for RadiSys.  "GoAhead's SA Forum AIS-compliant SelfReliant software coupled with the RadiSys Promentum ATCA platform provides a highly available, application-ready solution that meets our customers’ needs."

MontaVista, GoAhead partner and the leading Carrier Grade Linux supplier to the telecommunications and embedded markets, understands the value of the COTS ecosystem. “The telecommunications and embedded industry is rapidly adopting a COTS model for rapid application development,” said Dan Cauchy, director of product management, MontaVista Software.  “Combined solutions such as MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition and GoAhead SelfReliant provide turnkey building blocks that allow organizations to focus their engineering effort on value added innovation at the application layer, instead of spending time on integration.”

Customers interested in participating in the beta program, which will begin in Q2 of 2006, can contact Michael Nitso, GoAhead Director of Worldwide Sales, mnitso@goahead.com.

GOAHEAD DEMONSTRATING AT THE EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE
GoAhead Software will be demonstrating SelfReliant 4.1 at the Embedded Systems Conference at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, April 3-7, in the MontaVista booth (#1532).
