GoAhead Software, IBM, Solid Information Technology and Tail-f Systems take carrier-grade, application-ready platform on the road
Step-by-step approach to achieving highly available blade server platforms enables network equipment providers to rapidly deploy new services
BELLEVUE, Wash. — December 18, 2007—GoAhead® Software, Solid Information Technology (Solid)™, and Tail-f™ Systems announced today that they are partnering with IBM to deliver an educational program entitled, “A practical guide to implementing open standards-based high availability on your blade server platform,” in San Jose, Calif., on January, 23, and in Cambridge, Mass., on January 31.
Aimed at network equipment providers (NEPs) and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs), this seminar provides a step-by-step approach to achieving a highly available blade server platform featuring carrier-grade in-memory database and network management. The seminars will be moderated by the Venture Development Corporation, a leading analyst covering next generation and VoIP infrastructure.
“As profit margins erode, service providers face the challenge of shrinking budgets and increasing pressure to rapidly deploy new, revenue-generating services,” states Eric Heikkila, director of embedded hardware and systems, Venture Development Corporation. “Network equipment providers are increasingly turning to standards from organizations including the Service Availability Forum, NetCONF and Blade.org, to achieve cost and time savings and have the flexibility to make technology changes without a loss to previous investments.”
“This session is for network equipment providers and telecom equipment manufacturers who are planning development of next generation services such as multi-play, VoIP, IPTV and IMS based services,” states Jim Ewel, chairman and CEO, GoAhead Software. “Using the real-world example of integrating GoAhead SelfReliant, solidDB 6 embedded database and Tail-f Systems on IBM BladeCenter HT, attendees will come away with an understanding of how to ensure high availability, resource discovery, performance, and configuration management on a blade server platform.”
“We’ve carefully designed this program to educate those responsible for the design and development of carrier-grade applications on ways they can efficiently focus their critical resources on increased functionality, differentiation and time-to-market, while continuing to ensure carrier grade availability,” states Bruce Anthony, Distinguished Engineer and CTO, IBM Telecommunication Servers.
“For years telco customers have relied on our fast, always-on solidDB database,” says Paola Lubet, senior vice president, marketing and business development for Solid. “We are pleased to team with best-in-class partners to provide a carrier-grade, application ready platform, and discuss how it benefits TEMs and NEPs and their customers.”
“Network management is a critical requirement for network equipment providers to deliver highly available service delivery platforms,” said Hakan Millroth, CEO, Tail-f Systems. “We are pleased to be working with GoAhead, IBM, and Solid to demonstrate how our respective technologies provide rapidly deployable solutions for the telecommunications industry.”
